My sister, her two boys, rob, and I came to visit D-town where my parents live. We had the best intentions of doing a fun baking craft with Max, my 2 year old nephew. We "tried" to make chocolate bowls to put pudding in...
Here I am thinking I'm such a great Aunt and that these bowls will be perfect and i'm getting high fives and i'm awesome and this is great... SUCCESS!
and fail...
You see, i sat myself on the ground so i was face to face with our wonderful pot of chocolate for dipping. We dip, we place, and we wait. Seemed so easy. Until things started exploding. I thought the chocolate was cool enough. i really did. much to my surprise it was not and the balloon exploded in my face along with the chocolate. there i sat, in the midst of laughter from my mom and sister, with chocolate in my hair, on my face, on my teeth (i guess i was smiling at the time), seriously.. up my nose! Fail. Luckily i was the only casualty. So as our project was going horribly, the boys were up to something a little different. a little more manly than balloons and chocolate.
Rob and my dad went to work building a removable bed into our car for camping! it's a ridiculous sounding thing, but i must say, i've gone camping in it twice and it's been awesome!
They had a lot of fun. taking measurements and sawing stuff. We use laser beams these days.
Meanwhile... a mom and sons photo shoot. once again, we thought we were successful...
Look at that, a happy family.
and then the photo shoot got annoying. How can you expect a boy to sit nicely and watch the laser beam sawing thing and not want to go see it... i would say that this photo could be captioned fail but max's face is so awesome that i think it's actually a win.
We went inside and decided to make the pudding for our super terrible chocolate bowls. Max helped.
It was all fun and games until it was time to turn on the noisy mixer.
He held on to Grama for dear life and stared the thing down like it was nobody's business. Then we used knives to pop the balloons that made the bowls. Knives? Exploding chocolate balloons? Could i have picked a worse 2 year old baking project?
I don't even have a photo of the finished pudding in chocolate bowls product cause the whole thing was so heinous. but it tasted good! Can't go wrong with pudding and chocolate. I would say, the boys had a much more successful day. But i will ALSO say that i would much rather have had chocolate explode on my face and eat pudding than use a laser beam saw. So i still think i win.
Pretty awesome Element bed.
We eventually got a camping mattress that fits perfectly inside the car. It seriously is a cool deal.
Room for cargo underneath?
Or bunk beds? maybe not. we'll stick with cargo.
I hope whatever you did this weekend didn't explode. But if it's going to, i hope it's chocolate.
